Miss Angela Yvette Cherry, age 55, of Live Oak, Fla., passed away Tuesday, October 10 at the V.A. Medical Center in Gainesville, Fla. She was the daughter of Mrs. Addie Cherry and the late Douglas Cherry. Angela was a graduate of Suwannee High School in the year of 1980.
After high school, she went to Santa Fe College in Gainesville, Fla. Then, she joined the military to serve in the U.S. Army for five years. She received the Army Purple Heart for her combat service. Angela returned home and went to work at the V.A. Hospital in Lake City, Fla. The Army accommodates her medals and numerous certificates of achievement.
She is survived by her loving mother, Mrs. Addie Cherry; brothers, Mr. Willard Cherry, Douglas Cherry, Jr. (Peggy), Mr. Keith Cherry (Shawanna), Darryl Cherry, all of Live Oak, Fla., and Steven Cherry (Rita) of Berlin, Germany; special cousin, Donna Holden; aunts, Velora D. Loper, Mary Dukes, Cookie Holden, Phyllis Jefferson, Annie B. Perry; uncles, Wallace Holden, Jimmy Holden, Alonzo Holden (Maxine); great uncle, Johnny Holden, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Homegoing services will be Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017 at 11 a.m. at African Baptist Church. Rev. Alex Fountain, Pastor; Rev. Johnny Herring, officiating. The family will meet and greet friends Friday evening at Thomas Funeral Home Chapel from 5-7 p.m. on Oct. 20, 2017.
