Carl's Story

Text size

Carl Leon Henry Miller was born in Winchester, IN. He spent many years in Chicago and Texas. He dabbled in construction, was a restaurant entrepreneur, worked on the railroad, played semi-pro football, raced motocross and found his passion at Macalester College studying theology. He pursued this dream for about ten years. Moving to Virginia presented other opportunities to embark on his entertainment career as a recording artist.
In 1983, he hit the charts with his single "Life of the Party." Being the humble man that he was, he chose his love for his family over the stardom that was at his doorstep. He moved to Florida in the mid-eighties. It was here that he met his future bride and love of his life, Kimberly. It was then that they joined their families together and continued pursuing his entertaining career for the next thirty years. Mr. Miller is survived by his wife of 25 years: Kimberly D. Miller, O'Brien, FL; one daughter: Corinne Chaney, Brooksviile, FL; five sons: Troy Leon Miller, Spring Hill, FL, Christopher Edwin Miller, Branford, FL, Michael Strickland, Branford, FL, Travis Strickland, Branford, FL, Ian Miller, Branford, FL; two sisters: Connie Dyson, Virginia, Rita Shores, Virginia; brother: Ronnie McKay, Virginia; five grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life was held on Monday, Jan. 23 with the service following at Living Springs Family Worship Center, 26471 FL, Branford, FL 32008 with Pastor Charles Istre officiating. In lieu of flowers (because we can not have them due to Kimberly's lung transplant) a donation can be made to the family to help with final expenses or to Donate life Florida in Carl Millers Honor, 40 Sarasota Center Blvd., Ste. 107 Sarasota, FL 34240 in honor of Carl Miller.
