A native of Bybee, Ky., he moved to Suwannee County in 1981 from Ft Lauderdale, Fl. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Vietnam war. After leaving the military, he settled with his family in Ft Lauderdale and embarked on his career with the Broward County fire department. He quickly ascended the ranks, and served as a fire chief for numerous years. While in this capacity, he mentored many young men and women who shared moving testimonials of how he positively affected their lives.
After settling in Suwannee County, he started his own successful business, Todd's Mobile Home transport. He was widely known as a hard working man with a huge heart and this legacy will be remembered by those who loved him. Don loved, beyond measure, his wife, his family and his animals. He enjoyed working with plants, cooking, and doing jigsaw puzzles.
Services were held January 20, 2018 in the Brody Harris Memorial Chapel with Reverend James Carrier, and internment followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Lake City.
