Ellen M. Cory, age 75, of Live Oak peacefully passed away at Haven Hospice on January 24, 2018, surrounded by her family. Ellen was the administrator of St. Luke's Episcopal Church for the past 33 years and touched the lives of many in our community with her loyalty, kindness, and her loving ways. She had also been involved in pig farming and secretarial work for a temp agency for many years. Always very involved in the day to day happenings of the church, Ellen was awarded the Bishops Cross Award in 2011 for exemplary service.
Ellen was predeceased by her parents, Lester and Inger Atkins of Connecticut, husband, George Cory III (a well known contractor in Suwannee County), Charles Ives of Connecticut, and granddaughter Janet Cory of Live Oak. She is survived by her husband, David Uri; daughters, Laura Ives and Melissa Cory; sisters, Janice Revet and Dixie Marshall; brothers, Karl and Richard Atkins, cousin, Carl Bosin; stepchildren, Martha Cory Carrano (Paul Gelinas, husband), George Cory IV; grandchildren, Jessica and Maria Carrano, George Cory V, Cara and Katherine Coursol, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A service will be held at 11:00 am on February 17, 2018, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, Ellen's wish was for donations to be made to the church.
