Eloise's Story

Mrs. Eloise Drake Bedenbaugh, 89, passed away peacefully, early Monday morning, March 20, 2017, in the Suwannee Health Care nursing facility in Live Oak surrounded by her loving family. A native of Baldwin, Florida, Mrs. Bedenbaugh(DOB 4/28/1927) was the daughter of the late Alan and Ollie Davis Drake. She moved to Columbia County in 1943 with her family and was a graduating member of the Columbia High School Class of 1946. She started working at the Priest Dime Store at an early age. She went on to work for Belk's Department Store, the Cox Furniture Store, which was bought out by Shaw's Furniture and ultimately Sims Furniture, which was the name of the store when she retired. Mrs. Bedenbaugh very happily spent her spare time being a "granny". She and her husband Winford moved to Live Oak in 2003 to be closer to their family. She was a member of the Lake City Church of God.
Mrs. Bedenbaugh is survived by her husband of sixty-seven years, Winford W. Bedenbaugh; her son Alan Bedenbaugh and his wife Pamela of Live Oak; two grandsons, Alan Bedenbaugh, Jr. of Lake City; Steven (Stacie) Bedenbaugh of Riverview, FL; granddaughter, Mandi (Richard) Gaylord, Colorado Springs, Colorado; four great-grandsons, Zachary Bedenbaugh, Carson Bedenbaugh, Tyke Gaylord and Brady Bedenbaugh; and four great-granddaughters, Bricelyn, Brielee and Bristol Bedenbaugh, and Kirstin Gaylord. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Bedenbaugh will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 22, 2017 in the Chapel of the Dees-Parrish Family Funeral Home with Rev. Curtis Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends for ONE HOUR prior to the service.
