Garnett Clinton Hunter, 92, of Live Oak passed away Sunday morning at sunrise surrounded by his family. He was born August 17, 1925 to Herbert Miles and Ouida (Cox) Hunter in Genoa, Florida. He had three sisters Phyllis (Black), Dorrie (Stewart), Virginia (Beauchamp), and one brother, Herbert Charles Hunter. As the depression ended, he moved to Brunswick Georgia and worked in the shipyards building Liberty ships which were a vital contribution to the war effort during WW11. After the war, he returned home and started his own logging business. It was during this time, that he met the love of his life and married Annette Allen. They were married for 64 years and were blessed with two daughters Georgette Allbritton (Pat), Heidi Hunter and a grandson Dan Oxford. He retired after a 27-year career from the Florida Department of Agriculture after which he devoted his time to his family, his church (Andrew Bible Class of First Baptist Church), and numerous activities which were dear to his heart. He loved tending his cows at the family farm, his Massey Ferguson tractor, his old farm truck, and visiting at Farmer's Co-op and Huffman and Gilmore. He shared a love of roses and camellias with his wife, Annette, and he rooted many plants to share and plant in their yard. His other passion was camping in the North Georgia mountains. Every fall, he and Annette could be found packing up and heading to God's Country. He loved exploring the little towns, festivals, waterfalls, and creeks with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife Annette (Allen) Hunter, two daughters Georgette Allbritton (Pat), Heidi Hunter, his grandson Daniel Severin Oxford, Warner Robbins, Ga. and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Daniels Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Graveside services will be at 11:00 at the Live Oak Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Florida Baptist Children's Home in his memory.
