Harvey Leon Carroll, Jr., age 78, of Live Oak, FL passed Thursday, February 23, 2017 at his home following a lengthy illness. He was a native and life-long resident of Live Oak where he was a self-employed business man where he accomplished many things. Harvey went through the Suwannee County School system and graduated from Suwannee High School in 1956, from there he went to work for Florida Power and Light until his retirement in 1973. He was a very successful tobacco farmer from 1973 to 1992. In 1976 he was awarded the "Farmer of the Year award." In 1991 he owned the largest registered Texas Long Horn Ranch this side of the Mississippi. He then went into the pine straw business from 1992 to present day. He has had many other successful business ventures. He was a true business man and if he was not working he enjoyed fishing, gardening and cooking. He spent eight years in the Florida National Guard.
He was predeceased by his parents, Harvey L. Carroll, Sr. and Donnie T. Carroll, one grand-daughter, Shannon Carroll and a daughter-in-law, Denice Carroll.
He is survived by his loving companion, Alicia Layne, Live Oak; three sons, Harvey L. (Joan) Carroll, III; Richard P. (Rhonda) Carroll and William Alan Carroll all of Live Oak; one daughter, Harvest Lynn (Zack) Carpenter, Jacksonville, NC; one sister, Maryln (Al) Fisher, Lakeland, FL; five grandchildren, Preston (Peggy) Carroll, Jason R. Carroll, Celeste Carroll, William Carroll and Everleigh Carpenter. Five great grandchildren, Blake, Pacia, Chloe, Pailyn and Paisley Carroll.
Visitation will be held Friday, February 24th from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held, 10:00 AM Saturday, February 25, 2017 in the Brody Harris Memorial Chapel with Pastor Hugh G. Sherrill. Entombment will follow in the Live Oak Cemetery.
