Joe Thomas Herring
Joe Thomas Herring 83, a native of Suwannee County, passed away Saturday, January 25, 2020, in Lake City, Florida. He was the third of eleven children born to the late Summer and Mary Herring. A graduate of Douglass High School in Live Oak 1952, and retired from the U.S. Army in 1981 after serving 26-years. He was a Purple Heart Award recipient from his service in Vietnam. He and his loving wife Ethel Herring, were members of Allen Chapel AME Church in the Houston Community in Suwannee County.
Funeral services will be Saturday, February 1, 2020, at 11:00 a.m., at Allen Chapel AME Church, 7385 Railroad Street, Live Oak, FL (the Houston Community). Public viewing will be Friday, January 31, 2020, from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Allen Chapel AME Church. Thomas's funeral home, 1009 5th Street, Live Oak, is in charge of the arrangements.
