John Dade Howland, age 62, of Live Oak, FL passed away Friday, January 26th, 2018 at Shands/Live Oak in the ER. He was a native and life-long resident of Suwannee County and a member of the Live Oak Church of Christ. He graduated from Suwannee High School in 1973 and received a bachelor's degree from ABAC in south Georgia. John owned and operated Howland Feed Mill for many years. He was a hardworking man who got his work ethic from his dad Ed, his kind and gentle nature from his mom Peggy. He and his wife, Mary Alice, loved the water and in their free time leisurely cruised the waterways of north Florida. He enjoyed fresh water fishing but had a greater fondness for deep-sea fishing. John would hit the links and play golf when he had the chance. In his quiet time he was an avid reader who counted as two of his favorite authors Tom Clancy and Stephen King.
He was wonderful and loving family man who is survived by his wife Mary Alice Howland of Live Oak, his mother Peggy Howland of Dowling Park, FL, one daughter Crystal (Jason) Pappas of Gainesville, FL, one step-daughter, Charyle Gaskins of Live Oak, one step-son Chad (Kelly) Hale of Live Oak, one sister, Phyliss Howland of Live Oak. Nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive.
The family received their friends at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until 12:00 Noon, Tuesday, January 30th. Graveside services follow at 2:00 PM in the New Harmony Methodist Church cemetery with Reverend Jim Robinette, officiating.
