Larry's Story

Text size

Larry Evitt was a man whose personality was as big as the fun-loving life he lived. The life of the party, he was always on point with a joke or a tale stemming from a quick wit, the love of people, and a zest for life. He was much more than a father to his children, Tracy and Jason, as he was a dad, and a Papa to his only grandchild, Abby. His life was made full and complete by his lovely and adoring wife, Celia, of more than 55 years.
When Larry was a baby, he crawled behind the stove and drank lye, an ingredient for making soap in the old days. With a prognosis of certain death he overcame enormous odds against him to go on and live a life worthy of a second chance. He was even one of, if not the first, civilians to receive penicillin. Even his current doctors of modern medicine marveled at his longevity upon hearing his miraculous story.
An eagle-eye marksman and lover of nature, hunting came as natural to "Rocky" as anything. He absolutely loved to hear his dogs run a deer or coax them upon a covey of quail. He took solace in the woods, especially at dawn or dusk, his favorite time of day. A generous man who would always help another in need and couldn't help but pull for an underdog. His laugh was infectious alongside his warm smile, which realized him many life-long friends. Larry will truly be missed by many.
