Leroy Quitman Roberts, 60, of Mayo, FL, passed away Friday Jan. 13, 2017 at Select Specialty Hospital in Gainesville, FL, following an extended illness. Leroy was born on Aug. 2, 1956 in Clewiston, FL to the late Loyce and Grace Roberts. Leroy was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He served in the Army National Guard from 1974-1978. He was retired from Florida Department of Corrections after 32 years of service. Leroy enjoyed fishing, coyote hunting and his family. He was preceded in death by his parents Loyce Q and Grace Meredith Roberts, his grandparents Orlando and Lula Roberts, his wife Ellen Roberts and brother Loyce "Tarzan" Roberts.
Leroy is survived by his two daughters, Rebecca (Dale) Eldridge, Jessica (Ron) Payne; three grandsons, Brian Humphries, Grayson Eldridge and Trenton Payne; mother-in-law, Kathryn Murray; his brother, Glen Roberts (Lisa); his sisters, Nancy McGowan (Mike), Frances Chastain (Tommy) and Irma Mann (Randy); sister-in-law Mary Roberts, along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Jan. 16, 2017. at Burns Funeral Home of Mayo with Bro. Randy Waters officiating. Interment services followed immediately afterwards at Riverside Cemetery. The family received friends at Burns Funeral Home of Mayo.
