Lewyn Donald "Don" Boyette, Sr., 80 of Live Oak, FL, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2019 in the V. A. Medical Center, Gainesville. The Live Oak, FL native was born December 19, 1938 to the late Lee Braddock and Rhoda Hutchinson Boyette. The U.S. Navy veteran owned and operated Boyette's Gun & Tackle in Live Oak for 21 years, retired after 25 years with the State of Florida as a Beverage Agent and Correctional Officer, was a Live Oak City Council member for 20 years, a member of the Hayward Masonic Lodge #13 and the Live Oak Shrine Club, was a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Wellborn where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher and Sunday School Director.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Shirley Ann Morgan Boyette of Live Oak; his daughter, Angie & Cliff Townsend of Live Oak; his son, Lewyn Boyette of Live Oak; two sisters, Vonciel & Gene Harrell of Live Oak and Nettie Anderson of Jacksonville; four brothers, Milton & Shirley Boyette of Jackson, SC, Maxie & Yvonne Boyette of Gainesville, FL, Dale & Priscilla Boyette of Live Oak and Lee & Patsy Boyette of Fernandina Beach, FL; five grandchildren, Laine & Travis Tuten, De & Ben Broughton, Dale Townsend Tillman, Lew & Ashley Boyette and Landon Boyette and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted, Friday, May 31, 2019 at 11:00 am in the Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Wellborn with Rev. Wally Weaver and Rev. Lewis Gooch officiating. Visitation will be held at the church prior to the service from 10 to 11am.
