Leyron M. 'Papa Joe' Baker, 91, Live Oak, FL passed away, Saturday, March 11, 2017. Leyron Has lived most of his life in Live Oak, FL. He retired from the U.S. Army after 30 years of service which included WWII and Korean Conflict. He also worked as an agricultural inspector for 3 years, Deputy Sheriff for Suwannee & Okeechobee counties for 6 years, policeman for 3 years, and retired from the Department of Corrections in Lake Butler after 5 years. Mr. Baker was a member of Clayland Baptist Church. He is survived by three daughters; Gale & Rick Tyre, Live Oak, FL; Myra & Toby Brock, Live Oak, FL; Mary & Don Tyre, St. Augustine, FL; sons; Dale Baker, Live Oak, FL; Barry & Monica Baker, Live Oak, FL; Randall & Pat Boston, Riceville, TN; sister; Von Erie Williams, Valdosta, GA; thirteen grandchildren & seventeen great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, March 16, 2017, at Clayland Baptist Church with Rev. Phillip Herrington & Rev. Bill Lawhon officiating the services. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. In Lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to Suwannee Valley Care Center, 6037 W US Hwy 90, Lake City, FL 32055.
