Mrs. Margie Hazel Hartsfield-Long, 86, of Lake City, passed away peacefully, Saturday evening March 18, 2017 in the Haven Hospice of Suwannee Valley Care Center while surrounded by her loving family. A native of Dexter, Georgia, Mrs. Hartsfield- Long(DOB 7/16/1930) was the daughter of the late Clarence and Lola Stripling Waites and had been a resident of Lake City since moving here from Live Oak in 2013. She moved to Branford, Florida in 1968 from Norman Park, Georgia, with her late husband, Marvin L. Hartsfield. She was a homemaker and an owner/operator of a Gold Kist Chicken Farm for many years. They relocated to the Live Oak area in 1986. Following the death of her first husband, Mrs. Hartsfield-Long met and married her late second husband, Frank Long. Mrs. Hartsfield-Long was very artistic and enjoyed all sorts of arts and crafts. She made lap blankets for nursing home patients, had her own flower shop for a while, crocheted and most recently enjoyed creating decorative deco-page vases. She was of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Hartsfield- Long is survived by her children, Brad Hartsfield (Linda) of Carrabelle, FL; Marc Hartsfield (Nell) of Branford, FL; Brenda Overby (Wayne), Pam DuCharme (Mark) and Melissa Cieslik (Rich) all of Lake City; a brother, Lloyd Waites of Norman Park, GA and two sisters, Juanita Waites and Loyas McGill both of Moultrie, Georgia. Eleven grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren also survive.
A memorial gathering celebrating the life of Mrs. Hartsfield-Long will be held from 1:00-5:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at the home of Melissa & Rich Cieslik, 592 SW Sweet Breeze Dr., Lake City, FL 32024. Friends are invited to stop by and share their memories or simply visit with the family.
