Robert Allen Hughes
Robert Allen Hughes, 77, passed away on December 8, 2019 in Gainesville, FL following a brief illness. Robert was born June 12, 1942 in Greenville, Florida to Mark Jefford Hughes and Cecila Day Hughes. He attended and was a graduate of Madison County High School before being drafted into the US Army where he served in the Vietnam War. During his service he received a Purple Heart. Mr. Hughes also served in the Army National Guard for 20 years. Robert worked as a train conductor for PCS Phosphate for 30 years. In his spare time he enjoyed watching college and Major League Baseball and visiting with family and friends.
Hughes is survived by; his wife of 53 years, Linda Gail Hughes; 2 sons, Robert Van Hughes, of Live Oak, and Jeffery Hughes, and wife Audrey, of Lake Park, GA; 1 daughter, Rhonda Michelle Hughes, of Live Oak; 7 grandchildren, Brittney, Catilyn, Morgan, Ethan, Jayden, Kenzie, and Tucker; 2 great-grandchildren, Paisley and Oakley Morrell; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00PM on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Burns Funeral Home of Mayo with Bro. Stanley Luke officiating. Interment will follow in the Historic Dowling Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 also at Burns Funeral Home of Mayo. All arrangements are under the care of Burns Funeral Home of Mayo.
