Wilbur's Story

Wilbur Arnette, 81, passed away on January 26, 2018 at Haven Hospice in Lake City, Florida. Live Oak has been his home for the last forty-five years. Wilbur was born in Mullins, South Carolina on June 10, 1936 to Wilbur and Marion Arnette. He graduated from Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina with a B.S. degree in Psychology and Philosophy. He began his career in Social Services in Conway, South Carolina. Wilbur then moved his family to Baxley, Georgia to be the Branch Office Manager for Farm Credit Service. The family moved to Live Oak in 1973 to take a job at North Florida Production Credit as Vice President. The company later merged with Farm Credit where he stayed on as a loan officer for 12 years. Wilbur then began a new adventure as a poultry farmer for Goldkist in 1980. Wilbur was a member of First Baptist Church of Live Oak. He enjoyed fishing and boating on the Suwannee River, dove hunting, and spending time with family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Marion Arnette and his brother Bill Arnette. Wilbur is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-nine years, Mrs. Pat Arnette; three children, Tim Arnette, Kelly (Carolyn) Arnette, and Joy (Brian) Lamb; his brother Gerald Arnette; and five grandchildren; Nick Arnette, Kaitlyn Arnette, Christopher Arnette, Brayden Lamb, and Brannan Lamb. Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church, Live Oak, Florida on Thursday, February 1, at 1:00 PM. The Memorial Service will begin immediately following the visitation at 2:00 PM Reverend Phillip Herrington will be officiating the service. Interment will take place at a later time. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made to First Baptist Church, 401 West Howard Street, Live Oak, FL 32064 or to Haven Hospice, 6037 West US Highway 90, Lake City, FL 32055.
