William Reinhold "Bill" Richardson, 94, of Live Oak, Florida, and recently DeLand, Florida, passed away on May 3, 2019, in Ormond Beach, Florida, after a short illness. Bill was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on February 13, 1925, and grew up in Swansea, Massachusetts, on a poultry farm with his parents, Lillian (Verry) and William Richardson.
Bill moved to Florida and married Betty Council Richardson on April 12, 1957. He was employed by Florida Power and Light, Co. and he and Betty moved to his farm in Suwannee County where he eventually retired. He was a 73 year Master Mason in the Eastern Star Lodge, Rehoboth, Massachusetts, and a former member of the Suwannee County Cattlemen's Association. Bill recently moved to DeLand, Florida, to be closer to his family.
Bill loved family, farming, fishing, his cows, playing his harmonica, and telling a good story. One of his most memorable achievements was being awarded the National 4-H Gardening Award. He is predeceased by his loving wife Betty and survived by his daughters Sheri Priest Rock, DeLand, Kim Richardson Bennett (Wes), Cumming, Georgia, and his son Todd Council Richardson, DeLand; 11 grandchildren, Lou Mercado, Deland, Michael Rock, New Port Richey, FL, Rebecca McGuigan (Shawn), DeLand, Heidi Wright (Collin), Ormond Beach, Katie Richley (Troy), Honor, MI, Matthew Bennett (Kristen), Cumming, Heidi Bennett-Shirey (Jonathan), Cumming, Shane Bennett (Megan), Cumming, Holly Bennett, Cumming, Heather Bennett, Denver, CO, and Hope Bennett, Phoenix, AZ; and 18 great-grandchildren.
A graveside burial service will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Philadelphia Baptist Church, 15824 169th Road, McAlpin, FL, 32062, with Pastor Joshua Wynn officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Halifax Humane Society, 2364 LPGA Blvd. Daytona Beach, FL 32124.
