Clarence Sherrell Brooks, Jr. died, Saturday, Aug. 13, 2016 at the Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City, Fla. following an extended illness. He is the son of the late Clarence Sherrell and MaryNell Tisdale Brooks, Sr. He has lived in Lake City, for the past 35 years after moving here from Homestead, Fla. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Peace Baptist Church in Branford, Fla.; he was also a member of the American Legion in Lake City, Fla. He served his country in the United States Navy for four years on the USS York Town. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting guns, and spending time with his family.
Brooks is survived by his wife of 41 years of marriage, Edyth Brooks, Branford, Fla.; five sons, Robbie Brooks, Apple Valley, Ca.; Clarence "Buck" Brooks (Trina Goodman) Owensboro, Ky.; Christopher Sherrell Brooks, Sumterville, Fla.; William Sherrell Brooks (Kimberly) Charleston, Sc. and Jake Brooks (Stephanie) Branford, Fla.; 10 grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 20 at 11 a.m. at Peace Baptist Church in Branford, Fla. with Rev. John York officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the church.
