Deborah Odell Brookins, age 63, of Live Oak, Fla. passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Haven Hospice in Lake City, Fla. following a courageous battle with cancer. She was a native and life-long resident of Live Oak where she worked for many years as a waitress for Jay's Restaurant. Deborah loved fishing, yard sales, music and dancing and was an avid Florida Gator fan.
She is survived by her "sweetie" Colon Harden, Live Oak; one son, Charles Michael Downing, Live Oak and one step-son, Lee Harden, Live Oak; two daughters, Gloria Downing, Ashley Peek and one step-daughter, Angie Sparks all of Live Oak; her mother, Odell Jowers Merritt, Live Oak; one half-brother, Robert Hudson, Lakeland, Fla.; one sister, Elizabeth Jean, Live Oak; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Friday, July 15 in the Brody Harris Memorial Chapel with Rev. Curtis Thomas officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery.
