Orson's Story

Orson Wade Webster, Jr., 92, of Glenburn, Pa., passed away February 28, 2016, in Lake City, Fla. He was born in Peckville, Pa., and at a young age moved to Glenburn. At the age of sixteen, he became manager of the family gas station and ran the business through high school until he entered the service. After graduating from Dalton High School, he served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946. Returning home, he began a forty-year career in insurance; working first for Farm Bureau and then Nationwide. Orson married the love of his life, Alice Elaine Medley, on August 5th, 1944, and they were married for more that sixty-six years. They were life long members of Dalton Methodist Church. Together they shared a love of travel and enjoyed boating both at Lake Wallenpaupak, Pa. and in Canada on the St. Lawrence River. They also formed many wonderful friendships as they traveled the country with their 5th wheel trailer. Orson spent the last 10 years sharing time in both Pennsylvania and Live Oak, Fla. where he also had a residence.
Orson is preceded in death by parents, Orson, Sr. and Lena Webster, brother and sister-in-law Ronald and Maree Webster, brother Daniel and wife Alice. He is survived by a daughter, Elaine Low, Live Oak, Fla. and a son, Wade (Donna) Webster, Burke Va.; 4 grandchildren, Christopher (Alison) Webster, Lindsay Webster, Katherine (Tim) French, Allan (Michelle) Bunce, and 7 great-grandchildren, Jocelyn and Blake Webster, Alex and Seth Bunce and Elaine, Jessica and Joshua French. The family also gratefully recognizes long-time friend, Dick Williams, and the on-going love and support of his 'Pennsylvania daughter,' devoted neighbor, Linda Stuart. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 21 at 11 a.m. at the Dalton Methodist Church, Dalton, Pa. Service will be officiated by his granddaughter, Rev. Kathy French. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages your support of Dalton Methodist Church or Haven Hospice in Lake City, Fla.
